Well…that didn’t take long.
In less than 24 hours, the newest Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie immediately went low and attacked former President Trump’s daughter and son-in-law.
“Let me tell you something, everybody,” he said. “The grift from this is breathtaking. It’s breathtaking. Jared Kushner and Ivanka Kushner walk out of the White House and months later get $2 billion from the Saudis? Two billion dollars from the Saudis. You think it’s ’cause some kind of investing genius? Or do you think it’s because he was sitting next to the president of the United States for four years doing favors for the Saudis?”
Now, there is some history between Jared Kushner and Chris Christie.
In 2004, Christie charged Charles Kushner, the father of Jared Kushner, with tax evasion. Charles Kushner later pleaded guilty to 18 evasion counts and served 14 months in prison. Former President Trump later pardoned him.
“Mr. Kushner pled guilty, he admitted the crimes. So what am I supposed to do as a prosecutor?” Mr. Christie said in an interview. “If a guy hires a prostitute to seduce his brother-in-law, and videotapes it, and then sends the videotape to his sister to attempt to intimidate her from testifying before a grand jury, do I really need any more justification than that?”
“It’s one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was U.S. attorney. And I was U.S. attorney in New Jersey, Margaret, so we had some loathsome and disgusting crime going on there,” he added.
It goes even deeper, Christie was mad because he feels Jared blocked him from getting a position when Trump was elected President.
“Jared Kushner, still apparently seething over events that occurred a decade ago, was exacting a plot of revenge against me, a hit job that made no sense at all for the man we had just helped elect,” Christie wrote in his book, according to The Hill. “And Steve Bannon, hot-shot, big-ba**s campaign executive, was quietly acquiescing to it.”
From the outside looking in it appears that Christie is making this personal to try and hurt Trump’s chances.
