There has been a lot of news coming out of the Glendale Unified School District in California.

There was a dust-up when Antifa showed up, and violence broke out between the two groups. Then a woke teacher was taught a history lesson.

Between 1915-1917 a horrific genocide took place.

On April 24, 1915, the Ottoman Empire arrested and deported hundreds of Armenian intellectuals and leaders from their capital city Constantinople (Istanbul). On the orders of Talaat Pasha, millions marched to their death:

An estimated 800,000 to 1.2 million Armenians were sent on death marches to the Syrian Desert in 1915 and 1916. Driven forward by paramilitary escorts, the deportees were deprived of food and water and subjected to robbery, rape, and massacres. In the Syrian Desert, the survivors were dispersed into concentration camps. In 1916, another wave of massacres was ordered, leaving about 200,000 deportees alive by the end of the year. Around 100,000 to 200,000 Armenian women and children were forcibly converted to Islam and integrated into Muslim households. Massacres and ethnic cleansing of Armenian survivors continued through the Turkish War of Independence after World War I, carried out by Turkish nationalists.

This genocide put an end to more than two thousand years of Armenian civilization in eastern Anatolia.

Back in California, parents were speaking up, requesting that their children be able to opt out of the LGBTQ+ curriculum.

Then a teacher took the podium and criticized the Armenian community calling them “heteronormative, Judeo-Christian, patriarchal, imperialist, capitalist system.”

“I’m a teacher in the district, and I also teach in LAUSD. I have two students in the district,” the teacher said. “I deal with a lot of the trauma of LGBT youth related to the heteronormative, Judeo-Christian, patriarchal, imperialist, capitalist system that oppresses them.”

She continued, “Why critical race theory? I’m not just here in support of our LGBTQ youth. It’s all connected. I’m in support of critical race theory and diversity, inclusion and equity training.”

Then she pretty much swallowed her foot.

“Armenians talk about the genocide, but they received SSI, but they don’t want to talk about the indigenous genocide of 1850 and the lack of reparations for Black and Indigenous people in this country,” she said. “How dare you as marginalized people come here, and you don’t want to talk about the oppressed trans youth … your kids are even learning what they need to learn in this that 1 in 2 will commit suicide and that 95% of kids will know they’re trans when they are 3, 4, or 5 years old.”

One Armenian American parent hit back.

“A genocide of 1.5 million at least Armenians by the Turkish Ottoman Turks … it’s complete gaslighting on the other side,” a father said. “All I have got to say is kids are not allowed to drink before 21. They’re not allowed to have tattoos before 18. They’re not allowed to buy guns before 18. And somehow, some way, they have enough common sense to be able to choose what gender they are like.”
