Hello, everyone! The political drama continues to unfold, and this one’s a doozy. It’s been ten days since Kamala Harris was anointed as the Democratic Party’s Chosen One to replace the faltering Joe Biden in the 2024 presidential election. And guess what? She hasn’t won a single primary vote. Not one. Yet, the Democrats waved their magic wand, and poof! She’s the candidate.
But here’s the kicker: Harris hasn’t given one unscripted press conference since her nomination was announced. That’s right, folks. Not one. She declared she’d locked up the nomination on July 22, boasting about commitments from a majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates to next month’s Democratic National Convention. Since then, she’s been out on the campaign trail, making appearances and chatting with reporters. However, she has yet to face the press in a formal, unscripted setting.
Harris, who slid into the nominee spot without a single primary vote after Biden stepped aside, has been so elusive that The New York Times had to dig up an old interview to see where her answers “land now.” Spoiler alert: they land somewhere to the left of Rosa Luxemburg. Harris has never been a moderate, despite what the Democratic Party might try to spin.
The Democratic Party quickly rallied behind Harris following Biden’s announcement. Governors, senators, House members, and party leaders all fell in line. But critics are starting to notice that she hasn’t faced any tough questions. National Review senior writer Noah Rothman even took to social media to ask, “When is Kamala Harris going to hold a press conference?” Here’s a hint, Mr. Rothman: She won’t, for as long as she can get away with it. An open, unscripted press conference would be Kamala Harris’s worst nightmare.
What are they trying to hide? It’s simple: Kamala Harris isn’t exactly known for her sharp intellect or coherent speech. Her spontaneous remarks often descend into a jumble of words that would make even the most seasoned speech therapist cringe.
Remember Joe Biden’s basement campaign? The Democrats did everything they could to keep him away from unscripted events. Every statement he made was pre-approved and scripted to avoid any potential gaffes. They sheltered Biden because he’s senile; they’ll do the same for Harris because she’s incompetent. She may not be suffering from late-stage dementia, but she’s a terrible speaker with the charisma of a wet blanket.
The Democrats will shield her from any unscripted moments for as long as they can. But it can’t last forever. Sooner or later, she’ll have to face the music, perhaps in a debate with Donald Trump. And when that happens, folks, brace yourselves for Word Salad II: Return of the Killer Word Salad.
Meanwhile, Trump spoke at the NABJ to a hostile crowd. The dam is breaking in terms of Black support for the Democratic Party. Black men, in particular, are becoming increasingly vocal about their disillusionment with the party’s agenda. At a recent Trump rally in Grand Rapids, MI, attendees voiced their frustrations with the Democrats’ failure to address their concerns.
Unlike Kamala Harris, President Trump is not afraid of going into any venue, any time, anywhere.

Some members of the Black intelligentsia are also up in arms about the NABJ’s decision to have a conversation with Trump at their annual convention. NABJ president Ken Lemon defended the move, noting that they’ve invited presidential candidates from both parties for decades. Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris were invited. However, only Trump showed up. Telling, isn’t it?
YOUR REACTION: Ken Lemon, the president of the National Association of Black Journalists (@NABJ), says they invited Trump and Harris for their conference. It’s embarrassing to see the amount of people who reflexively expect all Black Journalists to be mouthpieces for the Democratic Party. That’s not how this works. Either Trump or Harris is going to be the next president. They should WANT Black journalists to talk to both of them https://t.co/pp20LEngFt

The backlash continues, especially from Black Twitter and a group of Black male conservatives who launched their own Zoom call titled: “Black People Against Kamala Harris.”
The political landscape is shifting, and it’s clear that it’s no longer business as usual for Black voters. Only time will tell how this will play out in the upcoming election. Stay tuned, folks, because this is going to be one wild ride.
