Trump Discusses Economy While In North Carolina

Folks, Donald Trump, isn’t pulling any punches when it comes to calling out Kamala Harris and the economic disaster he believes she’s helped create alongside Joe Biden. Speaking to a fired-up crowd in Asheville, North Carolina, Trump didn’t mince words, laying the blame for America’s current economic struggles squarely at the feet of the Biden-Harris administration.

“The American dream is dead,” Trump declared, pointing to the economic headwinds that Americans have been facing. And while Harris may want to talk about her “fantasies” for the future, Trump was quick to remind everyone that she’s got a lot of explaining to do about the present mess she’s contributed to. He called on Harris to address the suffering that Americans are enduring right now, not some vague promises about what she might do down the road.

“Kamala Harris wants to talk about her fantasies … she wants to talk for the future about these fantasies, but really what she needs to explain is the present suffering that she has caused along with Joe Biden,” Trump said.

Trump wasn’t about to let Harris off the hook, either. He made it clear that she and Biden are a team—a team that’s been failing the American people. “She’s trying to throw him overboard,” Trump said, suggesting that Harris is distancing herself from Biden as things get worse. But as Trump pointed out, they’re in this together, and no amount of distancing can erase the fact that Harris was put in charge of the border and, according to Trump, “did the worst job in the history of borders.”

Now, Harris is planning to visit North Carolina herself, supposedly to talk about her economic policies. But if you’re expecting specifics, don’t hold your breath. According to reports, her speech is going to be “relatively light on details,” which isn’t surprising given her campaign’s tendency to avoid nailing down any real positions. Even her campaign website is still missing a policy platform—hardly reassuring when the economy is on everyone’s mind.

Trump also had some sharp words for Harris’s upcoming economic plan, suggesting she’s just waiting to copy whatever he announces first. And let’s not forget, she’s already borrowed his “no tax on tips” idea—something Trump proposed a full month before Harris jumped on the bandwagon.

For Harris, it’s going to be tricky to navigate the economy issue. She’s got to walk the line between not throwing Biden under the bus while trying to convince voters she can do better. But with the economy and inflation remaining top concerns for Americans as we head into the 2024 election, it’s going to take more than vague promises to win people over.

And according to a recent Associated Press poll, Trump’s message is resonating. The poll found that 45% of those surveyed trust Trump more on the economy than Harris, who trails at 38%. It’s clear that when it comes to handling the economy, many Americans believe Trump’s track record speaks louder than Harris’s empty promises.
