Man Says Shirt Was Why He Was Asked To Leave Gym

Well, here we are again—Donald Trump has pulled off the unthinkable, winning the 2024 presidential election and leaving a trail of liberal meltdowns in his wake. Once again, he defied every poll and prediction, proving that the “silent majority” is alive, well, and determined to shake up the status quo. But while half the country is celebrating, it’s clear some places just haven’t learned a thing. Take the latest out of New York City’s Equinox gym: a Trump supporter named Jared, wearing a T-shirt with Trump’s mugshot and the phrase “Never Surrender,” was actually kicked out of the gym for his choice of attire. Yes, that’s right—a shirt got him booted from his own gym.

Jared, a 27-year-old startup founder, was just getting in his weekend workout at Equinox’s pricey Flatiron location when the general manager, Queen Ogunyinka, asked him to cover up or leave. Her reasoning? Equinox is a “safe space,” and his Trump shirt was deemed “offensive.” Now, let’s be honest: a shirt with a political slogan is hardly a new phenomenon in New York gyms, but apparently, anything that might disrupt the delicate bubble of liberal Manhattan has to go.

Jared took it in stride and recorded the interaction, which quickly went viral. In the video, Ogunyinka tries to explain that she would have done the same if it were a Kamala Harris shirt—though, let’s be real, we all know that’s a stretch. Jared, who has worn plenty of pro-Israel and IDF shirts to the gym without so much as a second look, rightly pointed out the hypocrisy. Three days after Trump’s win, this guy couldn’t even wear a shirt celebrating his chosen candidate without being shown the door.

Now, Jared isn’t new to this kind of treatment. As a UC Berkeley alum, he’s no stranger to “leftist elitism,” and he’s lost friends simply for speaking his mind. His experience echoes what so many conservatives face—when you can’t refute someone’s argument, the next best thing is to shut them down or, in this case, toss them out. And what’s wild? Equinox later backtracked, admitting that Jared’s shirt didn’t violate any dress code and apologizing for the “mistake.” A mistake? Or perhaps a sign of personal politics creeping into customer service?

Let’s not forget Equinox’s own colorful history when it comes to Trump. Back in 2019, billionaire Stephen Ross, a Trump supporter and investor in Equinox and SoulCycle, held a fundraiser for Trump, and the backlash was immediate. Leftist activists erupted, even calling for boycotts, saying the company’s ties to Trump were “dangerous.” Seems like anytime Trump supporters step into the limelight, whether it’s at a fundraiser or the gym, there’s a mob ready to declare them persona non grata.

So, the question is: Are places like Equinox going to keep acting like this, unable to handle anything that doesn’t align with their “safe space” mentality? Trump has just won another term, backed by a coalition of diverse, determined voters. And if the left can’t tolerate a T-shirt, how will they survive four more years?
