Governor Kathy Hochul has once again shown her disdain for a large portion of New York’s population. During a recent appearance on CNN with Jake Tapper, Hochul labeled supporters of former President Donald Trump as “clowns.” This insulting rhetoric reveals her elitist attitude and contempt for those who don’t share her political views.
“Well, I’ll tell you what won’t make a difference at all, Jake, and that’s for Donald Trump to be a ringleader and invite all his clowns to a place like the Bronx,” Hochul stated. This dismissive comment underscores the governor’s lack of respect for Trump supporters. Instead of addressing their concerns, she chooses to belittle them.

Hochul’s comments come as Trump prepares for a rally in the Bronx. Despite her confidence that New York will never support Trump, recent polls suggest otherwise. A Siena College poll showed President Joe Biden leading Trump by only nine points (47% to 38%) in the state. This is a significant drop from Biden’s 2020 victory, where he secured 60.8% of the vote.
@AOC Yay! Bronx, can I rely on you to vote her out? https://t.co/SyTRqBSjrv

The Trump campaign fired back, highlighting Hochul’s fear of Trump’s growing support. “Kathy Hochul is just upset that President Trump is pulling crowds in her state that she could only dream of,” a campaign spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “Democrats are in disarray because Americans, including Hispanics and Blacks, are waking up to the fact that Joe Biden and the Democrat Party have been using them for votes and ripping them off for decades.”

This isn’t the first time Hochul has attacked Republicans and their supporters. In 2022, she told GOP candidates to “get out of town” and “head to Florida” where they belong. Her recent remarks are reminiscent of Hillary Clinton’s infamous “basket of deplorables” comment from 2016, where Clinton labeled half of Trump’s supporters as “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic.”
David Laska, director of communications for the New York GOP, condemned Hochul’s comments. “Kathy Hochul has once again revealed her true colors, disparaging millions of New Yorkers and demonstrating a shocking level of intolerance and disdain for a significant portion of our state’s population,” Laska said. “It’s time for Governor Hochul to apologize to the hardworking citizens she continues to alienate with her elitist, offensive rhetoric.”

New Yorkers deserve a leader who respects their diversity of thought and beliefs. Hochul’s divisive comments only serve to alienate a significant portion of the state’s population. Instead of working for everyone, she appears committed to serving only those who align with her political views.
As Trump continues to rally support across the state, it’s clear that many New Yorkers are ready for a change. They are tired of being disrespected and ignored by their governor. Hochul’s latest remarks only fuel the fire for those who believe in Trump’s vision for America.
In the end, it’s the people of New York who will decide their future. And if the recent polls are any indication, Trump’s supporters are ready to make their voices heard loud and clear.
