VandeHel Piece Stirs Debate

Hello everyone! Today, I’d like to touch upon a rather outrageous topic that recently came to my attention. It relates to a recent piece suggesting that following a shooting incident, President Trump should publicly apologize… for being shot. Yes, you read that right.

Consider being told that you’re at fault for being attacked. It’s as if being a victim wasn’t enough; now, you’re instructed to apologize for it. It’s akin to telling someone who got mugged that they shouldn’t have been in that neighborhood or shouldn’t have had anything of value on them. Does that resonate with logic? Certainly not!

The far-left news outlet Axios stated, “He could unify America. Imagine he gave a speech featuring something he rarely shows: humility. Imagine him telling the nation that he has been too rough, too loose, too combative with his language — and now realizes words can have consequences, and promises to tone it down and bring new voices into the White House if he wins.”

It’s no secret that President Trump is known for his combative language. However, asking him to apologize after a shooting incident isn’t a call for unity or humility. It’s laying blame on the victim and insinuating that his rhetoric somehow incited the assault.

Such bias isn’t a new occurrence. There’s a media tendency to play the blame game, with Republicans often on the receiving end, irrespective of the circumstances. Consider the experiences of Rep. Steve Scalise, Associate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, and Donald Trump – all three, prominent Republicans who have faced severe threats following media antagonism.

Does anyone recall the incident when a radical extremist attempted to harm Republican lawmakers on a ball field while yelling, “This is for healthcare!”? Or the numerous unfounded accusations against Trump that have been circulated over the years?

Despite all this, the media seems to dismiss inflammatory remarks from the other side of the political spectrum. For example, President Biden was appreciated for a speech about “toning down the rhetoric”. Yet, there was a conspicuous lack of concern when he made statements like “Donald Trump is a genuine threat to this nation” or compared Trump to a “dictator”.

Why is there no alarm over such statements? Why the silence when these remarks could also be perceived as inciting violence? The unfortunate answer appears to be that some media outlets seem comfortable with vilifying certain political figures.

What does this reveal? It shows us that we’re grappling with an unmistakable media bias and a double standard in terms of accountability. A demand for change is issued to one side, but not from themselves or those they align with. This isn’t a call for unity or justice. It’s simply hypocrisy.

Stay informed, stay vigilant, and above all, stay safe, everyone! Let’s strive for a world where unity doesn’t compromise truth. Until next time, take care.
