Trump’s Sharp Rebuke
President Trump did not hold back his anger when reporters asked him about the video. He was departing Shannon Airport in Ireland on Sunday evening when he spoke up. “I think it’s terrible,” Trump told the press. Later he restated this view, noting, “The fact that they were laughing together at a very important part of the ceremony was inappropriate.” His words were clear and direct.
Trump also noted that this is simply not the place for such behavior. “It’s not a place to be laughing, especially in that case,” he said. The President was not even in New York City for the event. A Divided Crowd

A petition asking Mamdani to stay away from the event had already gathered over 100,000 signatures from victims’ relatives.
However, not everyone agrees with the outrage. Michael Ragusa, who worked for former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, insisted the clip was misleading. He asserted that he stood beside them for the entire duration. “The camera just caught her greeting him hello,” Ragusa wrote. He contended that various other politicians were joking and laughing behind him, including Democrats and Republicans. A source told The Post that Mamdani stayed until the end and spoke with families, but admitted the moment was awkward.
The Question of Respect
