Trump Responds To SNL Skit

Well, folks, we’ve officially hit a new low in Hollywood, and it’s brought to you by none other than Saturday Night Live. The show kicked off its 50th season with what they probably thought was another “hilarious” cold open.

However, this time, instead of just the usual jabs at former President Donald Trump, they decided it was perfectly fine to joke about the two assassination attempts on his life this year. Yes, you read that right. Assassination attempts on a former president are now prime fodder for late-night comedy sketches.

In the opening sketch, SNL cast member James Austin Johnson reprised his role as Trump, mimicking a campaign rally. The bit took a dark turn when Johnson’s Trump mocked the attempts on his life, saying, “We love my rallies, except when someone does a bing bong bing bing bing, right at me,” as he mimicked gunfire with his hands. You know, just your typical campaign rally—until someone tries to shoot you. Ha ha? Not funny. At all.

Trump’s campaign was quick to respond, and rightly so. The Trump War Room account on X (formerly Twitter) shared the clip, calling out SNL for what it was: a disgusting display of tastelessness. “There were two assassination attempts against President Trump within a span of seven weeks,” the account reminded everyone. “Saturday Night Live apparently finds that funny. Disgusting.” Disgusting is putting it lightly.

Alina Habba, Trump’s attorney and adviser, chimed in as well, asking the question we’re all wondering: “Have we lost all boundaries of decency in the media?” Well, Alina, it sure looks like it. Shame on NBC for airing this trash.

To make matters worse, it didn’t end there. During the “Weekend Update” segment, Colin Jost decided to keep the tasteless train rolling. After showing a clip of Trump joking at a rally about showing off his “beautiful” body at the beach, Jost quipped, “I’m starting to worry that bullet got a little more than just the ear,” referring to one of the attempts. You know, because nothing says comedic gold like a bullet to the head, right?

This is where we are, folks. The liberal elites in Hollywood are so obsessed with their Trump derangement syndrome that they’ll mock assassination attempts on a former president—two attempts, mind you, that could’ve easily turned deadly. But apparently, that’s all just fine, because, you know, Trump jokes are always hilarious, right?

It’s not just about political satire anymore. We expect SNL to take shots at Trump, but joking about someone trying to literally take shots at him? That crosses the line. It’s tasteless, it’s offensive, and it shows just how far the Left is willing to go in their hatred for Trump. Decency, boundaries, and respect have all been tossed out the window. What’s next, laughing about more violence?

What happened to comedy being funny, pushing the envelope without being outright vile? Apparently, that’s too much to ask of Saturday Night Live these days. If this is what passes for humor in 2024, we’re in bigger trouble than we thought.
