Joy Reid is out, and her staff is shocked—because apparently, they were the last people on earth to realize the writing was on the wall. MSNBC’s new president, Rebecca Kutler, held a tense virtual meeting to break the news, confirming that The ReidOut is officially toast and, by extension, so are its employees. But hey, they’re free to apply for other jobs at MSNBC! That is, if they can somehow squeeze into a network that’s already overrun with liberal talking heads who all sound exactly the same.
The meltdown was immediate. Staffers were outraged that they first heard about the cancellation through the media, not from their own bosses. Welcome to corporate America, folks—where loyalty is a one-way street. One employee called it a “terrible, terrible way to learn about our fate,” as if MSNBC ever had a reputation for treating its workers with dignity. Kutler, trying to soften the blow, claimed she was “incredibly disappointed” about how the news got out.
Sure she was. That must be why she followed it up by confirming that, yes, the employees were indeed being terminated, but, hey, they can apply for one of the network’s 100 new positions. Sounds like a generous severance plan—if you can convince MSNBC that you’re progressive enough for their increasingly far-left agenda.
The reality is that MSNBC is desperately trying to shuffle things around in a failing attempt to fix its ratings. While they’d love to pretend that Reid’s cancellation had nothing to do with her divisive rhetoric, race-baiting, and embarrassingly bad viewership numbers, Kutler insists it was all about “data analysis and programming strategy.” Translation: Joy Reid’s numbers were in the tank, and keeping her on-air was no longer financially justifiable. Even MSNBC can’t afford to keep throwing money at a sinking ship forever.
So what’s the grand plan for salvaging the network’s 7 p.m. slot? A rotating panel of hosts, including Symone Sanders Townsend (a former Biden staffer), Michael Steele (a so-called Republican who seems to hate Republicans), and Alicia Menendez (whose last name is more recognizable than her journalism). In other words, MSNBC is replacing a hyper-partisan leftist show with… another hyper-partisan leftist show, just with three people instead of one. Somehow, they think this is a strategic move that will boost ratings. It’s a bold strategy; let’s see if it pays off.
Meanwhile, the network still isn’t sure if Reid will get a farewell episode. MSNBC is reportedly waiting to hear how she wants to handle it—because nothing screams “serious news outlet” like giving an outgoing host control over their own send-off. Maybe they’ll let her spend an entire hour blaming racism, sexism, and “shadows over our democracy” for her downfall. MSNBC execs probably want to avoid that, but let’s face it, it’s exactly what their remaining audience wants to hear.
The bottom line? MSNBC is scrambling. They’re swapping out hosts, pretending it’s a grand new vision for the network, and hoping nobody notices that their lineup is just the same progressive echo chamber with a slightly different cast. The only real difference is that Joy Reid won’t be there to yell about Republicans at 7 p.m. anymore. And honestly, that’s a win for everyone.
The libs on Blue Sky (a lefty social media platform where lefties went after Trump won) went off!
Morning Joe bent the knee to Trump fascism & Joy Reid demanded justice against Trump fascism.
Morning Joe whitewashed Netanyahu’s genocide of Palestinians & Joy Reid called out Netanyahu’s genocide.
MSNBC protected Morning Joe & fired Joy Reid.
I’m just not qwhite sure why.🤔

Literally the one thing MSNBC should not do right now is fire Joy Reid. And yet.
