Well, here we go again. The Democrats are eating their own — and this time, it’s David Hogg, the freshly minted Vice Chairman of the DNC, throwing the first punch. Hogg, who somehow parlayed his fifteen minutes of post-activism fame into an actual leadership role at the DNC, has decided he’s had enough of the same old, tired establishment Democrats. So naturally, he’s throwing $20 million behind an effort to unseat his own party’s incumbents in safe blue districts. Because, sure, nothing says “healthy, thriving political movement” quite like a full-on civil war.
Ken Martin, the poor guy stuck cleaning up this mess as DNC Chairman, basically had to sit the kid down and deliver an ultimatum straight out of the “Dad’s Not Mad, He’s Just Disappointed” playbook. Martin, somehow managing to keep a straight face, praised Hogg’s “amazing leadership” (because Democrats are physically incapable of criticizing their activists without throwing in five compliments first), but told him bluntly: if you want to play revolutionary, you can’t wear the DNC jersey while you’re doing it. You can either be a referee or a player — not both. It’s almost cute how Martin thinks laying out common sense rules will make any difference to a guy like Hogg, who’s built his entire career on attention-seeking rebellion.
Naturally, Hogg fired back with all the righteous indignation of a teenager grounded from using the car. He claimed the DNC is trying to “change the rules” just because he’s doing what he’s doing “within the rules.” Of course, he framed his insubordination as some grand crusade against Trumpism — because when in doubt, scream “Trump!” loud enough and hope people stop asking pesky questions about your own side imploding.
David Hogg is a child clearly in over his head, thrust into a spotlight he never earned. Look at his face, his confusion, his pain. Ask yourself—who put him there and why? Something deeper is unfolding.pic.twitter.com/pOUvaE5lEU

And then there’s the best part: Hogg insisting he’s not doing anything that conflicts with the DNC’s mission. Apparently, funneling millions of dollars into primary challenges against your own party’s sitting members somehow strengthens state parties and builds party infrastructure. If you listen closely, you can probably hear James Carville dry heaving into a trash can somewhere.
Martin, desperate to sound like an adult in a room full of political toddlers, reminded everyone that DNC officers had to sign a neutrality pledge — you know, that thing that says you don’t actively sabotage your own team during primaries. It’s not a complicated concept, but apparently it’s too much to expect from the DNC’s newest leadership class, where rules are for other people and virtue signaling is the real job description.
The irony here is just too rich. The same Democratic Party that rigged the 2016 primary for Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders now wants us to believe they care about “neutrality.” The same crew that cried about election integrity when they lost in 2016 now can’t even run their own party without chaos breaking loose on aisle three.

Here’s the bottom line: the Democrats have created a monster they can no longer control. They elevated activists like Hogg to leadership positions for clout, and now they’re shocked — shocked! — that he’s not interested in playing nice with the old guard. This isn’t some principled stand against Trump; it’s a party in freefall, run by people more interested in burning the house down than repainting the walls.
Meanwhile, Republicans are over here, popcorn in hand, watching the spectacle. If this is what Democratic leadership looks like, 2024 and beyond are going to be a very entertaining ride. And if Ken Martin thinks an “ultimatum” is going to rein in the Hogg-wild faction of his own party, he might want to brace himself — because the show’s just getting started.
