Vice President JD Vance told Republican lawmakers their election performance will decide whether American families stay safe or face danger. He spoke during a private huddle on Capitol Hill this Tuesday. Fox News reported that the Vice President urged the party to “kick a–” during the 49 days preceding the midterm elections.
Vance warned that real people will suffer if the opposition wins control. He noted that some individuals currently living will experience improved or worsened circumstances depending on if our group holds the majority or remains the minority. He argued that losing the majority means higher costs for medicine and less safety in neighborhoods. Per Fox News, he noted that thousands of parents will come home to their children instead of dying from crime because of current law enforcement support.
The Turnout Challenge
Vance told the New York Post that the Trump administration’s entire agenda hangs on the 2026 vote. He admitted that the base “haven’t yet shown up for Republicans” in off-year elections as needed. Polling data shows Democrats hold an eight-point lead in the generic congressional ballot, per the New York Post. This gap mirrors the seven-point lead the party held before the 2018 midterms. Vance wants voters to see the election as a choice on the President’s policies. “I really think it’s important to kind of get people to think that … in many ways the president is on the ballot,” he told the Post.
As the Republican National Committee’s finance chairman, Vance is leading the charge to fix this problem. The Washington Examiner notes he serves as the face of the administration’s anti-fraud initiative. He also acts as an emissary to voters who supported the ticket but feel unsure about some actions. Vance addressed these “people on the margins” during a recent speech in Dallas. He invoked the memory of conservative activist Charlie Kirk to make his point about loyalty and principle. “Charlie, ladies and gentlemen, was dedicated to this movement and this country,” Vance said, according to the Washington Examiner.
A Call for Unity
Vance emphasized that Kirk loved the President deeply even while holding his own views. “He loved, and I do mean loved the president of the United States,” Vance said. He shared that he spoke with Kirk almost every day for eight months before the activist’s death. The Vice President stressed that Kirk remained a free thinker who did not always agree with the administration. Vance used this example to urge unity among conservatives who might disagree on specific issues. He told the crowd, “He did not always agree with us.” This message aims to keep the coalition together as they face the upcoming election battle.
