Once again, CNN is up to its old tricks – desperately spinning rising gas prices to make them seem like no big deal for struggling Americans.
Matt Egan, a known propagandist for President Joe Biden, took it upon himself to try to ease Americans’ concerns as gas prices hit four-month highs at $3.40 a gallon.
But don’t worry, folks, according to Egan, there’s no reason to panic. Just ignore the fact that gas prices have jumped over 13% since January.
In his latest piece, Egan paints a rosy picture by claiming that gas prices “always rise at this time of the year.” Really, Matt? Are we supposed to forget the fact that U.S. refineries are struggling to stay afloat due to excessive regulations and maintenance costs?
Egan’s article is nothing more than a poor attempt at damage control for the Biden administration.
However, according to Tom Pyle, president of the American Energy Alliance, the reality is much different. Pyle points out that Biden’s policies, which prioritize biofuels and renewable diesel over traditional refining, are putting immense pressure on the already struggling industry. And with the EPA targeting the use of catalysts for making clean-burning gasoline, it’s only going to get worse.
But Egan insists that there’s “good news” because refineries are “starting to get healthy again.”
Really? It’s been reported that the U.S. has lost six refineries in just the past three years and refining capacity has fallen to its lowest in five years.
Let’s face reality. High gas prices are a direct result of the policies implemented by the Biden administration. It’s not a coincidence that gas prices started to skyrocket the moment Biden took office.
The national average price of gasoline has been above $3/gallon for 33 consecutive months.
These high gas prices are a direct result of Biden’s backward energy policies that continue to increase financial burdens for middle-class families in Ohio and across the nation.

It’s also not a coincidence that China has surpassed the U.S. in oil refining capacity for the first time ever. But Egan wants us to believe that everything is fine and we shouldn’t be worried.
