In the latest episode of the never-ending reality show that is the US government, some of our esteemed representatives are proving yet again that they are more interested in petty drama and self-promotion than actually doing their jobs. It’s like watching a circus, except instead of clowns, we have politicians.
On Thursday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had a heated exchange on Twitter, with Rep. Jasmine Crockett chiming in to make it a full-blown Jerry Springer-esque spectacle.
Senator John Fetterman was right when he compared the House to the infamous show in the past. After Thursday’s antics, he claimed he would apologize to Jerry Springer himself because even he couldn’t compete with the level of absurdity happening in Congress.
But leave it to AOC to take something trivial and turn it into a soapbox moment. She blasted Fetterman for his comments, claiming she was standing up for women, yet somehow also managing to accuse Rep. Greene of being racist and misogynistic for commenting on Crockett’s appearance. It’s almost as if AOC has a script prepared for any situation to make herself seem like a hero.
Meanwhile, Crockett saw this as an opportunity to profit from the drama. She announced a “Crockett Clapback Collection,” featuring merchandise with her own questionable phrases to raise money for the Democratic Party. Because when you can’t handle a situation with maturity and professionalism, you might as well try to capitalize on it, right?
So we are going to drop “A Crockett Clapback Collection.” This collection will feature various swag that includes random things I’ve said. The money will go to ensuring that we have a Democratic House! Give me a little time to really get the swag online etc., but B6 will drop… pic.twitter.com/7RnPQ4jVHs

But here’s the real kicker – she misspelled her own name on the merchandise. Talk about embarrassing. If she can’t even take the time to spell her own name correctly, what hope do we have for her representing us in Congress? She clearly values self-promotion over attention to detail and serving her constituents.
I’d start by spelling your last name correctly 😭😂 https://t.co/cljhahVm4l pic.twitter.com/fiewsmXTDF

Needless to say, people were quick to mock her for this blunder. It’s laughable that she thinks this merchandise will be successful when instead of buying it, people are laughing at her incompetence.
The shirt says “Crockrtt” 😂 she was so anxious to milk the attention for money she couldn’t even take the time to get her own name right. #proofread Why are people like this given power? Friggin’ beyond embarrassing. Disgraceful. https://t.co/7GcC5fErBU pic.twitter.com/fArLQxyIBk

It’s a sad state of affairs when our elected officials are more concerned with petty arguments, grifting, and misspelling their own names than actually working together to improve the country. This is not the Jerry Springer Show; it’s the United States government, and it’s time for these so-called representatives to start acting like it.
