State House Speaker Deletes Social Media Account

Well, would you look at that—Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau just pulled a classic Democrat move: dish it out, but run for the hills when the heat comes back around. After playing a key role in the ridiculous censure of Republican state Rep. Laurel Libby, Fecteau decided to quietly delete his X account, as if that would somehow make the controversy disappear. Newsflash: it won’t.

Here’s the backstory. Libby did what any rational person would do—she called out Democrats for violating a Trump-era executive order that aimed to keep biological males out of girls’ sports. Seems pretty straightforward, right? But apparently, pointing out obvious unfairness is now a crime in Maine’s state legislature. Libby posted publicly available images of a biological male taking first place in the girls’ pole vaulting competition at Maine’s Class B state championship. The victory helped the high school secure an overall championship win, and yet, we’re all supposed to pretend there’s nothing unfair about that.

Rather than addressing the issue at hand—whether or not biological males should be competing in female sports—Democrats did what they do best: change the subject, play victim, and punish anyone who dares speak the truth. Their excuse? Libby posted a picture of a minor. Never mind the fact that the photos were already public. Never mind that the real concern is that a male athlete took a championship away from female competitors. Nope, the real crime here, according to the left, was that Libby dared to highlight what was happening.

And so, in a move that would make any authoritarian regime proud, Democrats moved to censure her. Fecteau, in his role as Speaker, gleefully carried out the punishment, stripping Libby of her right to vote or speak on the floor until she “comes back into compliance.” That’s Democrat-speak for apologize and fall in line. Libby, to her credit, didn’t budge. “I will not be silenced and I will not allow the voices of Maine girls to be silenced,” she declared. That’s what real leadership looks like.

But here’s where it gets even better. After this whole debacle, Fecteau must have realized that public opinion wasn’t exactly on his side. So what did he do? Did he defend his decision? Did he make his case? Nope. He deleted his X account. Because, of course, when Democrats get caught overstepping, the first instinct is to make themselves disappear. It’s the political equivalent of a toddler covering their eyes and thinking no one can see them.

Libby wasted no time in pointing out his cowardice. “Apparently Maine’s Speaker of the House didn’t like hearing the voices of the people,” she posted. That’s putting it lightly. The left has no problem silencing their opposition, but the second they face even a fraction of the criticism they dish out, they fold like a cheap lawn chair.

This isn’t about social media accounts or parliamentary rules—it’s about who gets to speak and who doesn’t. The left isn’t interested in debate, and they sure as hell aren’t interested in fairness, whether in politics or in sports. They want control. They want silence. And they will punish anyone who dares to push back.

But here’s the problem with that strategy: people are waking up. Libby isn’t backing down. And no matter how many social media accounts Democrats delete, the truth isn’t going anywhere.
