Police In Idaho Arrest Man Accused Of Hitting Man With Vehicle At Protest

Let’s take a moment to appreciate just how far off the rails the anti-Musk, anti-Trump hysteria has gone. Over the weekend, in Idaho of all places—a state known more for potatoes and patriotism than political chaos—a 70-year-old man named Christopher Talbot allegedly took it upon himself to turn his car into a political weapon, ramming a pro-Trump counter-protester outside a Tesla dealership. Because apparently, in 2025, having the wrong bumper sticker is a criminal offense in the minds of some deeply unhinged people.

The scene unfolded at a so-called “Tesla Takedown” protest—one of over 200 events coordinated across the U.S., Canada, and Europe to protest Elon Musk. Yes, Elon Musk. The guy who builds electric cars, rockets, and satellites… and who also, much to the horror of the progressive elite, supports free speech and now has Trump’s ear in D.C. That was apparently too much for the activist crowd to handle, so they’ve now decided that torching Teslas and targeting drivers is the new form of “nonviolent resistance.”

In Idaho, about 30 anti-Musk protesters showed up with their signs, frowns, and probably a few NPR tote bags. But what they weren’t expecting was to be outnumbered nearly 7 to 1 by pro-Trump counter-protesters—200 of them, according to the Meridian Police Department. That had to sting. It turns out, outside the MSNBC echo chamber, regular Americans still prefer prosperity, border security, and functioning energy policies over climate guilt trips and government dependency.

And then came Talbot. Police say he made an obscene gesture at the 49-year-old Trump supporter—because nothing screams moral superiority like a middle finger—before allegedly hitting him with his car. Thankfully, the victim had the grit to drive himself to the hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Talbot, meanwhile, didn’t think to cover his tracks, and police quickly traced his license plate and hauled him off to the Ada County Jail, where he was booked for aggravated battery. Good job, champ.

This isn’t an isolated incident either. If you think this movement is all peace signs and Prius parades, think again. Last week, police in Austin, Texas found an incendiary device planted in a Tesla showroom. In Las Vegas, someone reportedly torched a couple of Teslas and shot at them in a targeted attack. And don’t forget the countless videos of Teslas being keyed, vandalized, and damaged across the country. All in the name of fighting “fascism,” naturally.

Now, if roles were reversed—say, if a MAGA hat-wearing boomer drove into a group of climate protestors—CNN would be running wall-to-wall coverage, and Merrick Garland would be calling it an act of domestic terrorism. But when a left-wing retiree takes out his rage on a guy with pro-Trump flags? It’s just another “incident.” Move along, nothing to see here.

What’s most fascinating is the makeup of these anti-Musk protesters. According to Business Insider, they’re mostly retirees—people over 65 who once worked in government-funded jobs as teachers, university professors, and social workers. In other words, the very people who’ve benefited from bloated public sector budgets and now can’t stomach a political moment where someone like Musk says, “Hey, maybe we shouldn’t spend ourselves into oblivion.” And instead of engaging in debate or voting, some have decided that harassment, destruction, and apparently vehicular assault are more effective tools of political expression.

So here we are. In 2025, we have a growing number of leftist radicals who are so enraged that their ideological monopoly is cracking, they’re now literally attacking people and property just to make a point. And while the media continues to frame them as passionate “activists,” the rest of us see them for what they are: angry, aging ideologues throwing tantrums because the country stopped listening.

If this is what “resistance” looks like, it’s no wonder Americans are tuning out the noise and tuning in to reality.
