New York AG Instructs Hospitals To Ignore Executive Order Citing State Law

And just like that, the left is in full meltdown mode again. This time, it’s New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is absolutely furious that hospitals might stop performing irreversible medical procedures on kids. That’s right—James is out here issuing warnings to healthcare providers, basically telling them to ignore the president of the United States and keep doing what we say.

It all started when President Trump signed an executive order aimed at protecting children from what can only be described as medical malpractice—blocking hospitals from conducting gender surgeries, prescribing puberty blockers, and administering hormone therapy to minors. This, of course, sent the left into a tailspin. Because in their world, stopping hospitals from permanently altering kids’ bodies is bad, but letting a confused 12-year-old make life-altering medical decisions is progress.

Naturally, Trump’s order is already working. Hospitals across the country are canceling appointments, scaling back their so-called “gender-affirming care” programs, and thinking twice before pushing vulnerable children toward experimental and irreversible procedures. And that’s exactly the point. The White House made it clear: “It’s already having its intended effect—preventing children from being maimed and sterilized by adults perpetuating a radical, false claim that they can somehow change a child’s sex.”

But Letitia James isn’t having it. She fired off a letter to New York hospitals, warning them that they have “obligations to comply with New York state laws” and that refusing to perform transgender procedures could be considered discrimination. In other words, If you don’t keep doing these procedures on kids, we’ll come after you. It’s the kind of heavy-handed, big-government overreach we’ve come to expect from Democrats. They’ll scream about “bodily autonomy” when it comes to abortion, but when it comes to kids being put on hormones or having their bodies permanently altered? Suddenly, the government has the right to force hospitals to comply.

Meanwhile, one of New York’s top hospitals, NYU Langone, wasted no time pulling the plug on these procedures for minors. This led to—what else?—a protest. A few hundred activists gathered outside, waving transgender flags and carrying signs demanding the hospital keep offering surgeries and drugs to children. One father told The New York Times he was worried that his “gender-fluid” 12-year-old wouldn’t be able to access hormone therapy. Imagine thinking the real crisis here is that a pre-teen isn’t being rushed onto experimental drugs.

This is what happens when ideology replaces common sense. We are talking about medical procedures that come with lifelong consequences—puberty blockers that can cause permanent damage, cross-sex hormones that lead to infertility, and surgeries that cannot be reversed. And yet, the left has convinced itself that stopping these procedures is somehow a threat to children rather than the obvious step toward protecting them.

Thankfully, this is just the beginning. Dozens of states have already moved to shield children from this madness, and now the federal government is stepping in. With a Republican-controlled Congress, more action is on the way, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made it clear: Trump is fully behind it. This isn’t just about stopping these procedures at the federal level; it’s about setting a precedent that will force hospitals, activists, and bureaucrats to think twice before pushing radical gender ideology on minors.

And here’s the kicker: the vast majority of Americans agree. The left loves to pretend that this is some kind of mainstream position, but when the issue is actually put to a vote, common sense wins. Parents do not want schools, activists, or bureaucrats leading their kids down this irreversible path. They want sanity.

Letitia James and the activist crowd can scream all they want. But the reality is that Trump is doing what no other president has had the courage to do—putting an end to an industry that profits off of confused children. The days of unchecked radicalism in medicine are over. And judging by the left’s reaction, they know it.
