Well, isn’t this just the cherry on top of the Biden administration’s crumbling sundae? CNN’s Jake Tapper—yes, that Jake Tapper—and Axios’ Alex Thompson have decided to air out the not-so-shocking laundry in their new book, Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again. Let’s just say, if this were fiction, critics would probably call it “a little too on the nose.” But alas, this is the reality we all watched unravel in slow motion with a sympathetic media humming lullabies in the background.
It turns out, the president of the United States wasn’t just “a little tired” or “fighting a cold” as the talking heads liked to claim every time he wandered off-script or stared into the abyss mid-sentence. No, according to this book, we had a man in steep physical and mental decline being propped up by advisers, staffers, and a protective press corps who apparently thought that hiding his condition was better than telling the American people the truth. Because nothing screams “democracy” like running a national Potemkin campaign to get a guy across the finish line before anyone notices he doesn’t recognize George Clooney.
And that Clooney anecdote? Chef’s kiss. The man co-hosts a multimillion-dollar fundraiser with Julia Roberts and Obama—pretty much the Democratic Avengers—and Biden walks up like it’s his first day on Earth. Clooney’s reaction? “Shaken to his core.” When even Hollywood’s glitterati are rattled by what they’re seeing, it might be time to consider that the problem isn’t just “aging” but something a bit more… fundamental.
Of course, the pièce de résistance was that July debate. Biden standing there, glassy-eyed and slack-jawed, while Trump ran rhetorical circles around him. The kind of performance that would’ve ended a city councilman’s career, let alone the presidency. But did the Democrats take responsibility for propping him up this long? Nope. They handed the whole mess over to Kamala Harris with less than four months on the clock and called it a “rescue mission.” Talk about an emergency landing with no wheels.
David Plouffe, Obama’s campaign whisperer and Harris’ new fixer, didn’t even bother sugarcoating it. Biden “totally f—– us,” he says in the book. That’s not Republican spin—that’s a high-ranking Democrat finally saying what most of America had figured out watching Biden freeze mid-sentence or wander off camera during live events.
And what about the part where Biden’s team debated putting him in a wheelchair after the election? That’s not leadership—that’s political Weekend at Bernie’s. They literally considered rolling out the wheelchair like a post-election prop reveal. It would almost be funny if it weren’t so cynically tragic. His aides brushed off concerns with the usual boilerplate nonsense about “arthritis” and “recovered fractures.” Meanwhile, his gait told the real story—one painfully obvious to anyone with a functioning set of eyes.
Even the Obama moment—grabbing Biden by the arm and guiding him off stage—was brushed aside as “cheap fakes.” Because nothing says “confidence” in your leader like insisting every embarrassing clip is somehow digitally altered. When you have to gaslight the country just to keep a narrative afloat, maybe it’s the narrative that’s broken.
Dems are scrambling:
REPORTER: “You said in June of last year that, ‘In my dealings with President Biden I found him to be in command & impressive.’..Were you being straight with the American public?”

A balding Chuck Todd rips Senator Chuck Schumer for “covering up” President Biden’s mental decline.
“Go home. You’re part of the problem. Now you tell us?”
Lmao what a fraud. This guy and his friends in the media covered up Biden’s obvious mental decline for four years and then… pic.twitter.com/0U1TD1jLhe

WATCH: @ScottJenningsKY BLASTS Chuck Schumer and other Biden decline enablers:
“The fact that he was only concerned about the optics and not about the fact that the President of the United States might be in cognitive decline, might be mentally impaired, to me, speaks volumes… pic.twitter.com/G5ZVuSsaeO— Jorge Bonilla (@BonillaJL) May 14, 2025
And yet Biden, in classic fashion, hopped on The View to declare he could’ve still beaten Trump. “He’s a loser,” he said. That’s rich, coming from the guy who had to be escorted offstage by his former boss. Meanwhile, Democrats like Schumer and Jeffries are ducking questions faster than Biden dodges stairs. Their answers? “We’re looking forward.” Translation: “Please stop asking about the walking teleprompter.”
The book hits shelves May 20, but don’t expect an apology tour. Just another chapter in a long saga of denial, cover-ups, and a party leadership that cared more about holding onto power than telling the truth.
