House GOP May Censure Congressman Following Trump Address

Democrats love to lecture everyone else about “respecting democracy” and “protecting institutions,” but the second things don’t go their way, they throw a fit like a toddler denied dessert. Case in point: Rep. Al Green, who decided that President Trump’s address to Congress was the perfect time for a public meltdown. In a move that surprised absolutely no one, House Republicans are now moving to censure Green for his embarrassing outburst—which, in classic Democrat fashion, ended with him being physically removed from the chamber after repeatedly ignoring warnings to sit down and shut up.

Rep. Dan Newhouse is leading the charge, officially notifying the House that he intends to introduce a censure resolution, which, let’s be honest, is the absolute least that should happen. If the resolution passes, Green will be forced to stand in the chamber while the formal rebuke is read aloud. Given his history of grandstanding and desperate attention-seeking, he’ll probably try to spin it as a badge of honor, but let’s be clear: It’s a public humiliation of his own making.

Green’s outburst came early in Trump’s speech when he suddenly started yelling about Medicaid cuts—something Trump has repeatedly said he won’t be doing. Speaker Mike Johnson immediately called for decorum, but Green, determined to make a scene, kept shouting anyway. Eventually, Johnson had to instruct the Sergeant at Arms to physically remove him, turning what was supposed to be a dignified event into yet another display of Democratic theatrics.

Naturally, Green ran straight to the media afterward, proudly declaring that he was “willing to suffer whatever punishment” for his little stunt. It’s the classic leftist martyr act—break the rules, scream about injustice, and then pretend to be a hero when consequences arrive. He insisted his tantrum was “worth it” because it helped “raise awareness” about what Republicans might do to safety-net programs. In other words, he was screaming about something that isn’t even happening.

Rep. Troy Nehls of Texas called Green’s behavior “shameful and inexcusable” and pointed out that his actions embarrassed the state of Texas. He’s not wrong. Green isn’t some 20-year-old college activist shouting at a protest—he’s a sitting U.S. Congressman who should at least pretend to take his job seriously. Instead, he treated a formal address by the President of the United States like an open mic night at a progressive coffee shop.

Even Democrats seemed a little uncomfortable with Green’s antics. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries said he would have a “conversation” with him—which, translated from Democrat-speak, means something along the lines of “you made us look bad, so cool it next time.”

Of course, this isn’t Green’s first attempt at turning himself into a resistance folk hero. He’s been trying (and failing) to impeach Trump for years. Most recently, he threw together some articles of impeachment just weeks after Inauguration Day, citing what he dramatically referred to as “dastardly deeds.” Spoiler alert: It went nowhere, just like all of his other stunts.

If the censure vote passes, Green will join a list of just 27 House members in U.S. history who have been formally rebuked for their behavior. The last one to earn that distinction? Former Rep. Jamaal Bowman, who literally pulled a fire alarm to disrupt a vote. You’d think that after losing a colleague to stupidity-induced censure, Green might have learned a lesson. Apparently not.

This is just another example of Democrats being unable to handle the reality of Trump’s presidency. Instead of offering real policy solutions, they resort to tantrums, theatrics, and stunts that accomplish absolutely nothing. Green’s outburst didn’t change a thing about Trump’s policies, but it did give Republicans another example of just how unserious and unhinged the modern Democratic Party has become.
