Here’s What The Blue Tsunami Means For Trump Future

The night was supposed to belong to the Republicans. Instead, a blue tsunami swept through the country Tuesday night, handing Democrats both the House of Representatives and the Senate. This is not a small shift. It is a total collapse of the GOP plan.

Democrats now hold the power to impeach President Trump. Iowa, Kansas, Maine, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, and Texas saw them flip seats. New Yorkers Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are set to lead the Senate and House. The results are final in most places, though the races in Mississippi and Alaska remain uncalled as of Wednesday morning.

The Price Tag on Iran

Why did this happen? The numbers tell a brutal story. An Associated Press exit poll showed that 62% of voters blamed President Trump’s policies for higher prices. Congress must take further action to check the president, according to another 71%.

President Trump tried to explain the loss to Fox News in a post-election phone call. He admitted, “I think a part of it was Iran.” He said, “People agree with what I’m doing on Iran, but they really probably weren’t willing to do the short-term consequence of paying more for gasoline. I understand that. I don’t agree with it.”

He did offer some praise for the opposition. “The Democrats did a good job,” he told reporters. He added, “They fought hard.” He even pledged to work across the aisle during the lame-duck term and beyond. But the voters had already spoken.

Sharks in the Water

The mood in the Democratic camp is not one of quiet cooperation. Joe Concha, a columnist for the Washington Examiner, says the party is ready to hunt. “We’re going to find out in a hurry that Democrats have no illusions of actually governing,” Concha said Wednesday on Fox and Friends First.

He warned that affordability issues will fade fast. “Affordability? That’s going to be pushed to the side because they smell the GOP chum in the water,” Concha said. The Washington Examiner reports that Democrats have already secured the majority in both chambers.

Concha believes they want to go after specific targets. “They want revenge, they want to see not just Donald Trump, but the Trump family, Elon Musk, anybody who is in this administration, Pete Hegseth, you’re going to see a lot of impeachments,” he said. Some predictions even suggest impeachment could stem from the White House ballroom project, which the president did not get Congress to fund.

A Two-Year Nightmare

Even if the charges seem thin, the impact will be heavy. Concha called the potential impeachment proceedings “a show about nothing, it won’t matter, but it will dominate the news cycle for the next two years,” he said. That is a long time to watch the government tear itself apart.

Specific winners include Peggy Flanagan, who won the Minnesota Senate race over Michele Tafoya. Josh Turek defeated Ashley Hinson in the Iowa Senate race. Rep. Laura Gillen won a key Long Island congressional race. The New York Post reported that Schumer added the Dems had won “against all odds” and that “relief was on the way.”

Hakeem Jeffries declared, “America is back.” But for conservatives, the message is clear: the opposition is energized, armed with new power, and looking for blood. The next two years will be defined by this new balance of power.
