Well, here we go again. Another deranged individual takes a shot—literally—at former President Donald Trump.

This time, it’s Ryan Routh, a 58-year-old with a long rap sheet and a history of donating to Democrats. Routh was arrested after federal law enforcement spotted him lurking in some bushes with an AK-47-style rifle at Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida. The man ran, jumped into a getaway car, and sped off, but thanks to a sharp-eyed witness, police were able to track him down quickly.

Let’s not gloss over the fact that this guy has a criminal record stretching back more than 20 years. Back in 2002, Routh barricaded himself inside a business with a gun in Greensboro, North Carolina. If that’s not bad enough, he was convicted of possessing a weapon of mass destruction—a fully automatic machine gun.

How he wasn’t barred from owning a firearm after that is anyone’s guess. But it didn’t stop there. Routh racked up charges for carrying a concealed weapon, possession of stolen property, and even a hit-and-run. And yet, here he was again, armed to the teeth and within striking distance of Trump.

But let’s talk about the politics for a second. Routh wasn’t just some random criminal with a grudge. According to Federal Election Commission records, he was a small-dollar donor to Democratic candidates through ActBlue. He sent money to Beto O’Rourke, Andrew Yang, Tom Steyer, Tulsi Gabbard, and Elizabeth Warren’s campaigns during the 2020 election cycle. That’s right—the same people who constantly preach about gun control were happy to take donations from a man with a criminal record involving illegal firearms.

It doesn’t stop there. Routh was reportedly a rabid Ukraine supporter, even going so far as to recruit volunteers to fight against the Russians. Funny how the media barely mentions that part, isn’t it? They’ll bury the lead on his political leanings and focus on everything else, but his fanaticism for Ukraine? Not a peep.

This latest assassination attempt should send shockwaves through the media, but instead, we’re getting radio silence. Why? Because it doesn’t fit the narrative. The same people who have been screaming about the dangers of political violence for years are strangely quiet now that the target is Trump. You know what they’d be saying if the roles were reversed.

Once again, this highlights the disturbing trend of politically motivated violence aimed squarely at Trump. How many more times will his life be put in danger before the left starts taking this seriously? Routh’s attempt is just the latest in a series of attacks that should have everyone concerned about the rising tide of extremism. But until the media and politicians on the left are willing to call it out for what it is, we’ll keep seeing more of this madness.
