Biden Statement Released After Mayorkas Vote

The Department of Homeland Security is making headlines once again, but this time for all the wrong reasons. In a nail-biting vote of 214-213, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives for his disastrous handling of the southern border crisis. This impeachment comes after a record-breaking number of illegal crossings in December 2020 and an untold number of unvetted migrants pouring into the country under the Biden-Mayorkas regime.

President Joe Biden responded to the news with an angry statement on the White House website, accusing Republicans of targeting an “honorable public servant” for political gain. He goes on to defend Mayorkas, a Cuban immigrant, and praise his career in law enforcement and public service. However, this praise rings hollow in light of the fact that Mayorkas has failed to uphold “the rule of law” in his current position.

Furthermore, Biden himself is to blame for the chaos at the border. In his first week in office, he systematically dismantled former President Trump’s successful border policies, such as Remain in Mexico and the border wall, which were deterring illegal immigration. Despite being able to restore these policies tomorrow, Biden has shown no interest in doing so.

Biden’s accusation of “unconstitutional partisanship” is baseless, as the impeachment process is a constitutional right. Ironically, he would accuse Republicans of staging a political stunt, given that he and his party impeached Trump twice on flimsy charges. Instead of addressing the real issues at the border, Biden deflects blame and demands more resources and money from Congress. However, there are already laws in place to address the crisis; Biden simply refuses to enforce them.

It’s a known fact that Biden and Mayorkas have intentionally made the border a humanitarian and national security disaster. They have ignored the pleas of border patrol agents and have prioritized political expediency over the safety and security of American citizens. While the impeachment of Mayorkas is a step in the right direction, it’s not enough. Biden himself must be held accountable for his disastrous policies that have resulted in a border crisis that is spiraling out of control.

Biden’s call for Congress to “give me, Secretary Mayorkas, and my administration the tools and resources needed to address the situation at the border” is an empty gesture. The truth is, that they already have the tools and resources needed; they simply refuse to utilize them. By playing politics with the border crisis, Biden is failing to fulfill his duty to protect the American people.

As the Mayorkas impeachment reaches the Senate and his future remains uncertain, one thing is clear: someone must be held accountable for the chaos at the southern border. While Biden continues to deflect blame and demand more money, the American people are suffering the consequences of his disastrous policies. It’s time for Congress to act and for Biden to take responsibility for the crisis he has created. In the meantime, Americans can only hope for a change in leadership come November.
