Here we go again—another media meltdown over the Trump administration doing what any normal country would do: deporting foreign nationals who engage in radical, destructive behavior. This time, CBS’s Margaret Brennan decided to go toe-to-toe with Secretary of State Marco Rubio over the revocation of Mahmoud Khalil’s visa. Spoiler alert: it didn’t go well for her.
Khalil, a Syrian-born former Columbia University student, got himself arrested on March 8 after his involvement in a pro-Hamas student encampment last year. DHS officials determined that he was linked to activities “aligned to Hamas,” a designated terrorist organization, and revoked both his green card and his student visa. Seems pretty straightforward, right? Not for the mainstream media. Brennan, like every other liberal journalist trying to play “gotcha,” kept pressing Rubio, demanding to know if there was “any evidence of a link to terrorism.”
Rubio, to his credit, was having none of it. His response? Watch the news. These campus radicals aren’t just holding peaceful protests—they’re taking over buildings, vandalizing property, and preventing actual students from attending classes. And somehow, Brennan still couldn’t grasp the concept that America doesn’t owe a visa to someone actively involved in that kind of chaos.
“Yeah, they take over — I mean, you should watch the news. These guys take over entire buildings. They vandalize colleges. They shut down colleges,” Rubio said.
Let’s be clear: when you apply for a visa, you are a guest in this country. And if you lie about your intentions—say, by conveniently leaving out that you plan to become a spokesperson for a radical movement that shuts down universities—you don’t get to stay. Period. That’s what Rubio laid out in plain English, and yet Brennan kept circling back as if she couldn’t believe that actions actually have consequences in Trump’s America.
The most ridiculous part? There are actual protests demanding that Khalil be allowed to stay. Imagine moving to a country, joining a movement that openly supports Hamas, disrupting a major university, getting arrested, and then expecting to stay. This level of entitlement is peak leftist insanity. But it’s no surprise—this is the same crowd that thinks illegal immigrants have a constitutional right to welfare and that rioters should be treated like civil rights heroes.
Secretary of State Rubio humiliates CBS’ Margaret Brennan who pleads ignorance as to why Columbia University t*rr*rist Mahmoud Khalil is a t*rr*rist.
Rubio appropriately responds, “You should watch the news.”

Rubio made it crystal clear: America doesn’t need people like Khalil here. His entire argument boiled down to common sense: if you come here and engage in criminal behavior, you go home. Simple as that. And yet, somehow, this has become controversial. Brennan acted as if deporting someone for openly supporting a terrorist-linked movement is some sort of human rights violation. Meanwhile, the left is bending over backward to defend Khalil, ignoring the fact that if he had told the truth when applying for his visa, he never would have set foot on American soil in the first place.
“If you are in this country to promote Hamas, to promote terrorist organizations, to participate in vandalism, to participate in acts of rebellion and riots on campus, we never would have let you in if we had known that. Now that we know it, you’re going to leave,” Rubio stated.
“We don’t want people in our country that are going to be committing crimes, undermining our national security or public safety. It’s that simple,” Rubio continued. “I don’t know where we’ve gotten it in our head that a visa is some sort of birthright — it is not. It is a visitor into our country, and if you violate the terms of your visitation, you are going to leave.”
This whole episode just highlights the absolute delusion of the modern Democratic Party and its media allies. They cry about “national security” when it suits them but throw a fit the moment Trump actually enforces immigration laws. They want open borders, sanctuary cities, and unlimited visas for activists like Khalil, but they have no interest in protecting American citizens from the consequences.
The bottom line? America has every right to decide who gets to stay and who doesn’t. And if you use your time here to promote Hamas, vandalize campuses, or lead radical uprisings, don’t be shocked when you get shown the door. That’s not some draconian Trump policy—that’s just basic national security. If only the media could grasp that concept.
