So here we are again, watching another Democrat trip over their own words and then scramble to gaslight the public into believing we all just “misunderstood.” This time it’s Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas, who apparently thought it was edgy and hilarious to refer to Governor Greg Abbott—who’s been in a wheelchair since a freak accident in his 20s—as “Governor Hot Wheels.” Real classy stuff from the party that loves to lecture the rest of us about “respect,” “compassion,” and, of course, “ableism.”
At a Human Rights Campaign event in Los Angeles—a fitting venue for progressive virtue-signaling—Crockett thought it would be a great time to toss out a zinger at Abbott’s expense. “Y’all know we got Governor Hot Wheels down there,” she smirked, before following it up with, “The only thing hot about him is that he is a hot-a** mess, honey.” What a brave stand. Making fun of a man who can’t walk because he’s actually doing something about border security, while you’re up on stage in California trying to win applause from an activist echo chamber.
Of course, the backlash was immediate—and deserved. But instead of owning it, Crockett went into damage-control mode. Not with an apology, mind you, but with an excuse so bad it made things worse. She now wants us to believe that when she said “Hot Wheels,” she wasn’t referencing Abbott’s disability. No, she says, she was talking about “planes, trains, and automobiles” used to transport migrants. Really. That’s the spin she went with. The mental gymnastics required to sell that excuse could win Olympic gold.
And just in case that wasn’t enough deflection, she did what Democrats always do when caught red-handed: point the finger at Trump. She invoked the left’s favorite punching bag, claiming that people who support Trump “unequivocally” have no standing to criticize her because he made fun of people too. In other words, she didn’t do anything wrong—you’re just a hypocrite for calling her out. Classic.
Let’s just take a moment to review: this is a sitting member of Congress making disability-based jokes on stage, then reposting tweets that explicitly reference Abbott’s wheelchair in a mocking context, then turning around and claiming none of it had anything to do with his disability. It would be funny if it weren’t so shameless.
And here’s where it gets even more pathetic—Crockett had the audacity to whine that this whole controversy is “another distraction,” accusing critics of “obsessing over her every word.” Sorry, but when a public official mocks a paraplegic governor, and then tries to weasel out of it with a half-baked excuse wrapped in identity politics, that’s not a distraction—that’s accountability.
JUST IN: Rep. Jasmine Crockett blasts Trump supporters for “misinterpreting” what she said when she referred to Gov. Greg Abbott as “Gov. Hot Wheels.”
Crockett says she is appalled that people think she was referring to his wheelchair.
Lmao. Next level gaslighting right here. pic.twitter.com/qQ99rByUj6

Also, maybe don’t claim you’re “appalled” by the reaction if you literally “liked” and reposted a tweet mocking Abbott’s wheelchair just days ago. Screenshots are forever, Congresswoman. And the internet remembers.
The juxtaposition of Jasmine Crockett, making fun of a man in a wheelchair while standing in front of a backdrop professing “human rights” is a perfect snapshot of leftism in 2025 pic.twitter.com/A3rdrXJI17

Let’s be real: this isn’t about one off-color joke. It’s about the utter double standard we see on the left. If a Republican so much as sneezed in the direction of someone with a disability, there’d be wall-to-wall media outrage, boycotts, investigations, and probably a House resolution condemning it. But when a Democrat makes a tasteless crack and gets caught, it’s suddenly a “distraction,” or even worse, an opportunity to attack Trump supporters for being mad about it. You can’t make this stuff up.
If Jasmine Crockett acted the way she acts in any other job in America, she’d be fired immediately.
Why are our standards for government officials so absolutely low?
I’ve never seen someone act the way she acts and get away with it to this level! pic.twitter.com/6tuLIqQ60F

Governor Abbott’s story—paralyzed in his 20s, rebuilding his life, becoming a judge, attorney general, and eventually governor—is one of perseverance and grit. That’s the American spirit. Rep. Crockett’s remarks? That’s the sound of the modern progressive movement eating its own credibility, one snarky punchline at a time.
