Hold on to your hat, folks; this is beyond comprehension. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene—one of the deadliest and most devastating storms in recent history—the Biden administration’s priorities couldn’t be more apparent, and they’re not with the American people.
While thousands of families in North Carolina struggle to rebuild their lives after the hurricane tore through their communities, Vice President Kamala Harris proudly announced a $157 million aid package… not for those suffering here at home, but for Lebanon. Yes, that’s right—that comes to a total of $385 million this year to a foreign country while Americans, desperate for relief, are handed a mere $750 dollars-yes dollars and told to figure it out.
Let’s get this straight: the Biden administration can find millions in “humanitarian assistance” for Lebanon, but when Americans in North Carolina are suffering from one of the deadliest hurricanes in modern history, the federal government can only scrounge up a measly $750 per family? It’s hard not to be outraged by this blatant slap in the face to every American taxpayer who’s been funding this government and expects, at the very least, to see a bit of support when disaster strikes.

While the administration is sending cash hand over fist to help people halfway across the world, victims of Hurricane Helene in North Carolina are left wondering why their own government seems to have forgotten about them. Glenn Beck, who recently returned from the disaster zone in Asheville, saw firsthand the generosity of everyday Americans, churches, and volunteer groups coming together to do the job FEMA should have been doing. But as for FEMA? It was practically a ghost.
Glenn saw FEMA agents only twice during his time there, and what a sight they were. The first time, they were hidden away under a tree, sitting at a card table, looking like they’d rather be anywhere else. They admitted it took them longer than they expected to reach the area—mind you, this is the agency that’s supposed to be ready to respond at a moment’s notice. And their big plan? Wait around for flyers so they could start registering victims. Flyers? Are you kidding me? People are stranded, homes are destroyed, and FEMA’s priority is getting the right paperwork in order?
The second sighting of FEMA was even more infuriating: they were building showers, not for the desperate victims of the hurricane, but for the volunteers who had been doing FEMA’s job for them. This is the same FEMA that claims it’s “out of money” when it comes to helping Americans in need, but somehow, the funds magically appear when it’s time to accommodate non-citizens.
Meanwhile, we’re watching billions flow out of the U.S. Treasury to places like Lebanon. According to the State Department, that $157 million will help with “food, shelter, water, and protection.” All well and good, but how about doing the same for the American families struggling in the aftermath of Helene? People in North Carolina are still dealing with power outages, destroyed homes, and a mountain of expenses, but for them, the administration can only muster a token $750 per family.
$100 billion for foreign wars.
$640 million for illegal immigrants.
$385 million for Lebanon.
$750 for American citizens suffering from Hurrican Helene.
This is America last.

And that’s if FEMA can even get around to registering them. While they dawdle, real Americans are going without help. Beck pointed out that FEMA has spent $1.4 billion housing illegal immigrants, giving them everything from cell phones to free health care. But for those who’ve worked, paid their taxes, and built their lives in this country? They’re treated like an afterthought.
It doesn’t stop there. Even when President Biden finally decided to visit the disaster area, he ended up doing more harm than good. His arrival shut down critical rescue operations for four hours. That’s four hours when helicopters couldn’t lift people from flooded homes when the focus shifted from saving lives to ensuring the President’s visit went smoothly. It’s infuriating to see a photo-op get in the way of actual rescue efforts.

Americans deserve better than this. They deserve a government that puts them first when they’re in crisis, not one that prioritizes overseas aid and political talking points. They deserve more than $750 when they’re struggling to rebuild their lives. And they certainly deserve a disaster relief agency that actually shows up and does its job instead of hiding under trees or building showers for volunteers.
The Biden-Kamala administration’s response to Hurricane Helene has been a disgrace, and every American should be asking: where are our priorities? The answer should be with the people who need help here at home—not with empty gestures and aid packages for other countries while our own citizens are left behind.
