This week, President Joe Biden’s campaign turned down an interesting offer from former President Donald Trump, who challenged Biden to a high-stakes round of golf with a $1 million charity donation on the line. This came after Biden initially accepted the offer during a tumultuous debate two weeks ago.
During a rally in Florida, Trump upped the ante by proposing an 18-hole match at Doral’s Blue Monster, giving Biden a 20-stroke advantage. If Biden won, Trump promised to donate $1 million to a charity of Biden’s choice. Alongside this, Trump also challenged Biden to a second debate.
The Biden campaign, however, decided to ignore Trump’s debate challenge. Polls after the first debate showed a majority of the country believed Trump won, with up to 80% of voters feeling Biden was “too old” to run again. Despite Biden’s initial acceptance of the golf match during the debate, his campaign refused Trump’s proposal.
Biden had previously shown enthusiasm for a golf showdown, even boasting about his handicap and suggesting Trump carry his own bag. This offer was reiterated during an event with comedian Stephen Colbert, revealing it had been on the table since 2021.

The Biden campaign didn’t hold back in their response to Trump, accusing him of hiding for 12 days, a claim that Trump’s team swiftly denied. They argued Trump stepped back to highlight the supposed disarray within the Democratic Party. Trump’s team quipped, “Why get in the way of them shooting at each other?”
The Biden camp’s statement was filled with jabs at Trump, accusing him of misleading job creation claims and falsely suggesting he didn’t stand up to Russia. They also criticized Project 2025 despite Trump’s opposition to it.
So Trump just challenged Biden to a golf match. The Biden team responded mocking it and claims Biden “doesn’t have time” for these “weird antics.”

In a sharp retort, the Biden campaign dismissed Trump’s antics, emphasizing Biden’s focus on leading the country. However, Biden admitted to needing more rest, telling Democrats he must cut back on evening events to get more sleep. Currently, Biden’s schedule mostly consists of events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a daily nap.
