After a hard fought battle that went on a little longer than expected, Georgia has finally made a Senatorial decision.
With the 2022 midterm race between incumbent Democrat Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker too close to call back in November, a runoff race commenced in the Peach State on Tuesday night. This time, there was a clear winner before the clock struck midnight.
Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock defeated Republican football star Herschel Walker on Tuesday in Georgia’s Senate runoff election, NBC News projects, handing President Joe Biden and his party a key win.
Warnock’s victory will give Democrats an outright majority in the Senate after two years under a 50-50 divide, with Vice President Kamala Harris casting tie-breaking votes.
The mainstream media has already begun pointing fingers at Donald Trump in the race, after the former President helped to bring Walker into the political fold. Trump did not campaign in person for Walker, however, throwing some cold water on this particular spin.
Walker conceded the election graciously, again proclaiming that running for office was one of the great honors of his life.
