USDA Inspector General Escorted Out

Oh no, another bureaucrat has been shown the door, and the media wants us to believe it’s the end of democracy as we know it. This time, it’s Phyllis Fong, the longtime Inspector General of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, who refused to leave after being fired by the Trump administration—because, apparently, she thought her job came with tenure. Spoiler alert: it didn’t.

Let’s be clear—this isn’t some shocking, unprecedented move. Trump isn’t exactly the first president to clean house when taking office for a second term. In fact, Biden did the exact same thing in 2021, firing Trump-appointed inspectors general left and right with barely a peep from the media. But now that Trump is back, every personnel change is suddenly a “purge,” and bureaucrats who were more than happy to let the deep state run unchecked for years are suddenly martyrs for democracy.

Fong, who had been in her role for 22 years, seemed to believe she was untouchable. When she got her termination notice on Friday, she simply ignored it—because that’s how entrenched these career bureaucrats are. They actually think they can defy a sitting president and just… stay. It wasn’t until security agents had to escort her out of the building on Monday that she finally got the message. Nothing screams, “I totally deserve to keep my job,” like being physically removed from your own office.

Of course, the usual suspects in the media are already spinning this into some dystopian power grab, with outlets like Reuters clutching their pearls over the fact that, gasp, Trump wants his own people in key oversight positions. Meanwhile, the White House made it perfectly clear why Fong and the other inspectors general had to go: they were rogue partisans more interested in protecting their own political allies than doing their jobs. That’s not “watchdog” behavior—that’s deep-state obstruction.

Naturally, the media is trying to connect this firing to Elon Musk because heaven forbid a billionaire not be in the pocket of the Democratic Party. Apparently, Fong’s office had been investigating Musk’s brain-chip company, Neuralink, and because Musk spent his own money helping Trump get reelected (how dare he!), the left is now screaming that this is some sort of corrupt cover-up.

Never mind the fact that Fong had plenty of other scandals on her plate—like USDA’s handling of bird flu, rampant animal welfare violations, and actual food safety concerns. But sure, let’s pretend she was only fired because of Musk.

And let’s not forget: Fong wasn’t the only one shown the door. Trump fired 17 inspectors general in one night, and of course, the Washington elites are treating it like a national crisis. The Council of Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency (yes, that’s a real thing) sent a strongly worded letter claiming that the firings “appeared to violate federal law.” Oh, you mean the same federal law that magically wasn’t an issue when Biden fired Trump’s IGs? Funny how that works.

This is just another overblown tantrum from the left. Trump is back, and unlike previous Republican presidents who tiptoed around the D.C. swamp, he’s taking a flamethrower to it. If that means a few bureaucrats have to pack up their desks and actually face accountability for once, so be it. Phyllis Fong can cry about it all she wants, but the reality is simple: elections have consequences, and this time, the deep state doesn’t get to ignore them.
