We all know about President Joe Biden’s surprise visit to Kyiv, Ukraine, and his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The visit marked the first anniversary of Putin’s war with the country, it also brought to the forefront the $113 billion in U.S. taxpayer-funded aid and weapons support.
President Biden said in a speech during the visit that “President Zelenskyy and all Ukrainians remind the world every day what courage is.
They remind us that freedom is priceless.
And worth fighting for.
For as long as it takes.”
But there is something about the visit that seems off and it happened while Biden walked the streets with Zelensky. In the background, you could hear sirens blaring indicating that missiles were incoming.
The two world leaders seemed unfazed by the noise and so did the Secret Service. They all just kept on their leisurely stroll.
But here’s the problem, those sirens have been absent in recent days. So some people are asking if President Zelensky is using some sound effects like were used in his acting days.
Were these sirens used for propaganda purposes while Biden walked the streets with Zelensky?
CNN’s Alex Marquardt said, “I’ve been here for the past five days. I have not heard any explosions. I have not heard any air sirens, until about half an hour ago, right when President Biden was in the center of Kyiv.”
John Kirby, the National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications, confirmed that the White House had contacted Russia about Biden’s trip before he arrived. But two days ago, Kirby told the American people that there were no plans for the president to enter Ukraine.
“We obviously are maintaining a high degree of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. The United States leads the world in terms of contributions, whether it’s humanitarian assistance or military weapons to Ukraine, and we’re going to continue to use our convening power, to marshal the world, to galvanize support for Ukraine, but there are no plans for the president to enter Ukraine on this trip,” Kirby said.
There’s some bait and switch happening all over this trip.
