Before reading the rest of this article, it might be good to remember that we dodged a major bullet by not getting Merrick Garland on the Supreme Court. Watching him as Attorney General under Joe Biden has given us a glimpse of exactly the kind of leader he is and what he could have done for years as a Justice on the High Court.

Garland appeared this week before the Senate Judiciary Committee to answer questions on a variety of issues. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) tore into him for ignoring the threats to the Supreme Court justices.

There were other senators who took him to task over the way he has treated pro-life activists compared to his position on attacks on crisis pregnancy centers.

Sen. Josh Hawley got in on the fun making Garland face the shameful way that pro-life activist Mark Houck was treated by the FBI. He was brutally arrested in front of his screaming children.

“You used an unbelievable show of force with guns, that I’d just note liberals usually decry…You’re happy to deploy them against Catholics and innocent children!” Hawley exclaimed.

Garland was left sputtering in his attempt to explain that treatment.

Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) explained to Garland how there have been 81 attacks on pregnancy centers and 130 attacks on Catholic churches, and only two people were charged.

All Garland could do is mutter that they apply the law equally.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) took issue with Garland, noting how the attacks on the centers and the churches were “not a priority” vs. a shove from a pro-life activist.

Garland could only respond that the FBI “disagrees” with the description that was presented.

His time as a leader in Washington is short, thank goodness he is not a lifetime-appointed Supreme Court Justice.
