Search Continues for Florida Man Who Tried to Jet Ski to Bahamas

Oh Florida, you will never cease to amaze us.

For some as-of-yet-undetermined amalgam of reasons, the great state of Florida tends to provide our nation with a never-ending supply of strange, unique happenings to report on, and this week was no exception.

A Florida man has been declared missing after allegedly attempting to jet ski from south Florida to the Bahamas.

Charles Walker, 52, was last seen on Pompano Beach around 5 p.m. on Sept. 23, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Walker’s family said he was planning on jet skiing from the beach to Bimini in the Bahamas, a distance of around 115 miles.

Walker had not gotten very far by the time he was missing.

While in the water, Walker’s last known location was 15 nautical miles off the coast of West Palm Beach, per the Coast Guard.

The story comes on the heels of Hurricane Ian’s arrival in the Sunshine State at a category 4 storm, leaving millions of Floridians without power in their now-underwater homes.
