With the impeachment trial of Donald Trump behind us, there is little fear that the President will again be stymied in his quest to root out corruption in Ukraine.
For the Democrats, there was a real fear that Trump had asked Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to do him a domestic political favor by asking for an investigation into business deals involving former US Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter. The White House has maintained that this inquiry was merely related to the overall question of “corruption” in Ukraine, which would fit into the prerequisites necessary for the tiny European nation to continue to receive US military aid.
Now, as the President forges forward renewed by his acquittal, it looks as though his buddy Rudy Giuliani is unleashing new information regarding the Biden-Ukraine scandal directly to the Department of Justice.
Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham said Attorney General William Barr told him about the arrangement on Sunday morning and that Justice Department officials were evaluating Giuliani’s information to determine whether it is genuine.
“The Department of Justice is receiving information coming out of the Ukraine from Rudy. He (Barr) told me that they have created a process that Rudy could give information and they would see if it’s verified,” Graham told the CBS News program Face the Nation.
Justice Department officials were not immediately available for comment.
This news will undoubtedly infuriate the liberal left, who see Trump’s desire for an investigation into the matter as an affront to the very democracy on which our nation was founded.
