With only a few loose ends left to clean up in the 2022 midterm elections, America is now experience a bout of political whiplash, as pundits and public servants alike begin to posture for the 2024 presidential race.
Much of the speculatory drivel has been focused on the right side of the aisle, where former President Donald Trump is clearly the alpha-politician and presumptive nominee for the time being. This hasn’t stopped a number of prominent Republicans from exploring their own political possibilities…and getting dragged publicly by Trump on account of it.
On the Democratic side of things there is some drama as well, with incumbent President Joe Biden continuing to suggest that he’ll be running again as well, despite a number of hearty objections from the younger, more virile members of the party.
This hasn’t stopped House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from falling in line, however.
From a recent appearance on ABC:
Anchor George Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you think President Biden should run again?”
Pelosi said, “Yes, I do. President Biden has been a great president for our country. He has accomplished so much. Over 10 million jobs under his leadership, working with the private sector, of course. He has just done so many things that are so great we would need a lot more show to talk about it. He’s put money in people’s pockets, vaccines in their arms, children back to school, people back to work, for starters, creating 10 million jobs. He’s made America independent by passing the CHIPS bill, that says we’re no longer reliant on those who withhold products that enable us to manufacture in our country.”
And then, almost laughably:
Pelosi added, “He has been a great president. He has a great record to run on.”
In reality, Joe Biden has had historically-poor approval ratings throughout his presidency, and there is loud, large contingent of liberals who are adamantly suggesting that he step aside for the good of the party.
