Monday night’s Iowa caucuses did not go as planned…for anyone involved.
This was the night that the nation was to get a real, actual look at how the 2020 Democratic candidates fared against real, actual voters. Instead, what we got was a whole lot of talk about a faulty app, zero actual results, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg, of all people, proclaiming himself the victor.
When results finally began rolling in some 24+ hours laters, Buttigieg and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders seemed to come out on top of the heap. Liz Warren had a decent showing as well.
But then there’s Joe Biden, whose abysmal Iowa results could very well sink his entire campaign.
The former Vice President all but admitted that this week.
Biden said, “I am not going to sugarcoat it. We took a gut punch in Iowa. The whole process took a gut punch. But look, this isn’t the first time in my life I’ve been knocked down.”
Biden has been steadily declining in national polling, as the youth demographics within the Democratic Party continue to find themselves more and more involved with the primary process.
These voters aren’t looking for yet another establishment politico to throw at Donald Trump, but, rather, they are looking to burn the system to the ground and start over…hence Bernie’s big showing in The Hawkeye State.
