Olympics Issues Apology

Hello everyone. Bishop Robert Barron, a prominent Catholic cultural commentator, has once again made headlines, urging Christians to “keep raising our voices” against the Paris Olympics. This follows the committee’s weak attempt to quell outrage over an anti-Christian scene from the opening ceremony.

Barron didn’t hold back, lambasting the Paris Olympics committee for their so-called apology after depicting the Last Supper with sexualized drag queens. This “gross mockery” of a sacred scene didn’t sit well with many, and Barron’s reaction went viral for all the right reasons. He called the committee’s apology nothing short of patronizing.

In a video posted to social media, Barron dissected the committee’s apology, which claimed there was “never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group.” To this, Barron responded with biting sarcasm, “Give me a break. So, we have a group of drag queens cavorting in a kind of sexually provocative way, clearly an imitation of Da Vinci’s Last Supper, and no disrespect was meant? You think anyone takes that seriously?”

Barron continued, sarcastically referencing the committee’s claim of promoting tolerance with their depiction, “Everyone’s welcome. Everyone’s tolerated. All this lovely diversity until you get to anyone who disagrees with your ideology. Like these 2.6 billion Christians.” He hit the nail on the head, pointing out the hypocrisy in their so-called inclusivity.

Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps added fuel to the fire by saying, “If people have taken any offense, we are really sorry.” Barron found this statement more infuriating than conciliatory, stating, “Christians were offended because it was offensive, and it was intended to be offensive, so please don’t patronize us with this condescending remark about ‘well, if you had any bad feelings, we’re awfully sorry about that.’”

Here is who was behind the disgusting depiction…not really shocking news:

Barron emphasized that a real apology would acknowledge the mistake and express genuine regret, “This was a mistake; it never should have been done, and we’re sorry for it.” He encouraged Christians to continue voicing their displeasure and not be silenced by hollow apologies.

In an interview with Fox News on Sunday, Barron reiterated his dissatisfaction with the apology and his call to action for Christians. He warned that Western civilization stands to “suffer enormously” from the loss of Christianity in its culture. “Here’s what really bugs me. You know, if we just keep mocking Christianity, what will happen when in our culture, people no longer hear the story of the prodigal son? They no longer hear the story of the Good Samaritan? They no longer see the depiction of the Last Supper for what it is? They no longer see the crucified Christ? What will happen to our culture when those things are mocked out of existence? I think the culture will suffer enormously from it,” Barron said.

So, folks, the message is clear. The time to raise our voices and defend our beliefs is now. Let’s not allow our culture to suffer from the erosion of these sacred stories and values. Stay tuned for more as this story develops.
