In America today, the political animosity that we see has long been cultivated and exacerbated by the mainstream media in an effort to conjure the sort of conflict and chaos that translates into higher ratings and greater revenue. This is undeniable, and it is dangerous.
Worse still, there is a new melding of political ideology and hateful rhetoric, with the latter now acting as a tool in the pursuit of the former, and devolving our national narrative into a cesspool of abhorrent and anti-American bile.
The latest example of this comes to us from Chicago, where work on the Obama Presidential Center was halted after the discovery of a noose on the property.
Foundation officials are condemning a “shameless act of cowardice and hate” at the site of former President Barack Obama’s presidential center in Jackson Park on Thursday morning.
Officials say a noose was discovered at the project site and construction has been halted.
”We reported the incident to the police and will provide any assistance required to identify those responsible,” Lakeside Alliance, the construction team building the center, said in an emailed release.
”We have zero tolerance for any form of bias or hate on our worksite. Anti-bias training is included in our onboarding process and reiterated during sitewide meetings. We are suspending all operations on-site in order to provide another series of these trainings and conversations for all staff and workers,” the statement said.
A reward of $100,000 is being offered for information leading to discovering the identity of whoever committed this heinous act.
Political differences are one thing in America, but this sort of abject hate runs afoul of our ideals as a nation where all men are created equal.
