The idea that Donald Trump could be indicted over his storage of classified documents at his Florida home continues to grow, and some politicians are seriously concerned about that possibility.
This included longtime Trump ally Lindsey Graham, who made a startling prediction on Fox News this week.
“If there is a prosecution of Donald Trump for mishandling the classified information after the Clinton debacle, which you presided over and did [a] hell of a good job, there will be riots in the streets,” Graham said to Gowdy, who was a leading GOP investigator of Clinton when he was in Congress.
And then:
The senator repeated the same line at the end of the interview after being asked about the district attorney in Fulton County, Georgia, seeking his testimony in a Trump-focused investigation over the 2020 election, adding, “I worry about our country.” Graham and Gowdy also discussed the treatment of stories about Hunter Biden in the run-up to the 2020 election and whistleblower allegations, including those claiming the FBI slow-walked its investigation into his laptop.
Twitter users attempted to portray Graham’s statement as some sort of veiled threat, however, misunderstanding that the South Carolina Republican was merely stating a rather likely outcome in this unprecedented situation.
