The recent comments made by White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre during her appearance on CNN have raised eyebrows and sparked outrage among conservatives. Her assertion that it is “shameful” for governors of border states to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary jurisdictions is not only misguided but also hypocritical.
Jean-Pierre’s criticism of these governors ignores the root cause of the issue – the federal government’s failure to effectively enforce immigration laws. It is precisely because of this failure that the number of illegal immigrants in our country has reached alarming levels, forcing states to take matters into their own hands. Designating certain cities and states as sanctuaries is a direct result of the federal government’s negligence and is not something for which these governors should be shamed.
Furthermore, it is hypocritical for the White House to criticize the actions of these governors while simultaneously supporting the policies of sanctuary cities. The decision to declare a jurisdiction a sanctuary is a deliberate one, and it essentially invites illegal immigrants to settle there without fear of consequence. By doing so, these cities and states have opened the door for exactly what is now occurring – the busing of migrants to their jurisdictions.
Conservatives have been quick to point out that these “sanctuary cities” have made their bed and now must lie in it. They have chosen to ignore federal immigration laws and have welcomed illegal immigrants with open arms. As a result, it is only logical that they should bear the responsibility of caring for them when the federal government fails to do so.

It is also disingenuous for Jean-Pierre to suggest that these governors simply “talk to the senators in their state” if they want to deal with the issue. This ignores the fact that it is ultimately the federal government’s responsibility to enforce immigration laws and secure our borders. These governors should not have to shoulder this burden, especially when the current administration has deliberately created a crisis at the border.

Furthermore, Jean-Pierre’s claim that President Joe Biden has done more in two years than other presidents have in two terms is simply laughable. The current state of our border is a direct result of the reckless and irresponsible policies of the Biden administration. It is no surprise that illegal immigration has reached record numbers under his watch.

In reality, it is not “shameful” for these governors to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary jurisdictions. What is truly shameful is the Biden administration’s failure to address the crisis at the border and the continued support for policies that encourage illegal immigration. Conservatives see through the virtue signaling and condemn the hypocrisy of the White House’s stance on this issue.
Jean-Pierre’s comments on CNN have only reinforced the fact that the current administration is out of touch with the realities of illegal immigration. Instead of shifting blame onto governors and perpetuating false narratives, the Biden administration must take action to secure our borders and enforce immigration laws. Until then, the responsibility of caring for illegal immigrants will continue to fall on the states that have been forced to declare themselves sanctuaries in the face of federal inaction.
