As the nation continues to shake off the jitters that they first felt on January 6th, one member of the House of Representatives is growing annoyed at the lack of transparency the military has had in regard to the aftermath of that attempted insurrection.
It was on that fateful today that a seething crowd of Trump supporters, likely spurred on by the extremists in their midst, stormed the US Capitol during the certification of the electoral college results – which would seal Joe Biden’s 2020 victory once and for all. The police tasked with securing the building were easily and quickly overrun by the crowd, spurring many to wonder just how we could keep the Capitol safe should they return again to stop Biden from being inaugurated.
The answer to that query came swiftly, as tens of thousands of National Troop guards were deployed within Washington DC.
Now, however, over a month after the inauguration, Florida Representative Michael Waltz wants to know what they’re still doing in The Beltway.
From an appearance on Fox News:
Waltz said, “We still have National Guardsmen out there, away from their families, away from their jobs, supplementing the police. And yet, we can’t get a briefing on what is this dire threat that requires so many people.”
He added, “I even spoke to the acting secretary of the Army and said, why do we have more troops in the Capitol than we have in Iraq and Afghanistan combined? And we still don’t have answers.”
Despite a number of promises to be a “president for all Americans”, Joe Biden’s administration has certainly chosen when and why they’ll compromise with the Republican Party.
One has to wonder if the silence on the subject of the Guard troops in DC is just another way in which Biden’s team is playing things close to the chest.
