Dems Goes Soft on Russia, Ask Biden to Negotiate with Putin

On the world’s stage these days, the political extremes are getting more…well…extreme.  It’s almost as if we’re hurtling end-over-end toward an inevitable World War III, with authoritarians lining up on one side of the divide, while the free and democratic nations line up to oppose them.

The most pressing example of this has been Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent reactions from the world at large.  And, with Vladimir Putin having transformed into an utter maniac in terms of his war-waging preferences, this global conflict is going to move from push to shove pretty quickly.

Yet, despite this fact, there is a rather large contingent of Democratic lawmakers in the United States suggesting that we attempt to negotiate with the Moscow madman.

Thirty left-wing members of Congress called on President Biden Monday to negotiate directly with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a bid to end his eight-month-old war on Ukraine.

Some of the most precocious progressives were part of the effort.

In a letter to the White House, which included Bronx and Queens Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Brooklyn Rep. Yvette Clarke among its signatories, the Democrats called on Biden to begin a “proactive diplomatic push, redoubling efforts to seek a realistic framework for a ceasefire.”

“We urge you to make vigorous diplomatic efforts in support of a negotiated settlement and ceasefire, engage in direct talks with Russia [and] explore prospects for a new European security arrangement acceptable to all parties that will allow for a sovereign and independent Ukraine,” the lawmakers wrote.

The idea of capitulating Putin in any way will surely turn the stomachs of the global community, particularly as evidence of genocide continues to be unearthed in Ukraine.
