Chants of ‘Lock Her Up’ Return to Trump Rally, But Not for Hillary Clinton

On the 2016 campaign trail, the Trump team was growing accustomed to a certain routine in their repertoire.

At the mere mention of his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, the enormous crowds would come to life, changing “lock her up!” ad nauseam, alluding to the myriad crimes that the former Secretary of State had been accused of.

Even now, three years into Trump’s first term, the chain remains part of the reelection rally experience, especially with Hillary continuing to sit on the sidelines of the race and sling arrows in the President’s general direction.

The latest iteration of “lock her up!”, witnessed at a Trump rally on Monday night, was not directed at Clinton, however, and instead at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

“I had somebody behind me who was mumbling terribly, mumbling, mumbling,” he said, saying it was “very distracting, very distracting.”

Trump then did an impression of the House Speaker uttering a series of grunting noises – “wah, wah, ho, ha!” – as the crowd chanted “Lock Her Up!”

“Angry — there was a little anger back there,” Trump continued. “We’re the ones who should be angry, not them.”

“We have the highest poll numbers we’ve ever had – thank you Nancy!” he added later on.

Pelosi has been a thorn in Trump’s side as of late, thanks to her staunch support of the Democratic impeachment “inquiry”, from which Trump has emerged unscathed in recent days.

Pelosi recently made headlines after ripping a copy of Trump’s State of the Union Address in half during the final moments of the speech itself, an act that some have contested was illegal.
