There was a lot of news that came flying out of New Mexico after Democrat governor Michelle Lujan Grisham suspended gun carrying right in Albuquerque using a public emergency health order.

After getting a massive amount of backlash Grisham doubled down.

“As I said yesterday, the time for standard measures has passed,” the governor said, according to her office’s press release on the order. “And when New Mexicans are afraid to be in crowds, to take their kids to school, to leave a baseball game – when their very right to exist is threatened by the prospect of violence at every turn – something is very wrong.”

Not long after the order was signed a large group of protestors defied the order.

The police did not intervene and the elected Sheriff that oversees the county said that he would not enforce it.

There’s a reason why and in this case we should thank our far left friends.

You see, on April 12, 2021 it was reported that New Mexico elimiated qualified immunity for police.

That gives individual the right to sue officers (including the State Police) personally for misconduct if “rights, privileges, or immunities” are violated.

Even gun control acitivsts like David Hogg and Rep. Ted Lieu have denouced the governor claiming her order violates the Constitution.

So the Governor probably hasn’t realized it yet but she’s opened her office and officials to an enormus amount of lawsuits.
